If we put the word H1B in the Visa Re-capturing bill, the bill would be doomed. As few have rightly pointed out, it would be taken out of context probably advertised and interpreted as increasing H1B visas.
If we put the words, eliminating per country limits, it would doomed. The CNN headlines would scream "Indians and Chinese are coming".
If we put any changes to the current requirements of I-485 filing, it would be interpreted as diluting the existing laws to import more cheap foreign workers faster. The anti-immigration forces would be all over it like a monkey on a cupcake.
If we keep it simple : Re-capturing unused visa numbers for Employment Based Categories for Foreign Born Professionals already employed in the US legally and in the queue for Permanent Residency, we have a high chance of success.
IV team please start the fund raising for re-capturing visa numbers. Thanks.

I liked NW/KLM too. Absolutely no hassles. I hear that NY-Dubai non-stop flight through Emirates is also good, though it is slightly expensive.
London - transit visa needed definitely for inter/intra-airport transfers.
Paris - did not ask for transit visa last when I travelled.
Frankfurt was approving transit visas within the airport for gate transfers last time I visited. Situation might have changed now.
Has anybody travelled through Toronto-New Delhi through Air Canada? This would be a trip over the north pole during the Xmas :D

Hi,
My company filed EAD for me and my wife along with 485 recently. I am on L1 and My wife is on L2. Is is possible to file one more EAD on L2 status. Looks like, we can get EAD on L2 faster than EAD with 485. My company attorney is suggesting me not to file one more EAD because one with 485 is pending with USCIS. Is it ok to file one more with L2? how long it will take to get EAD on 485 and EAD on L2. Any help??

Okay. Even if we send the AC21 letter to USCIS, whats the guarantee that they will take action or even read it. AC21 letter is not going to be a paid service and USCIS will treat this letter as any other letter like interfile letters. I am not sure whether USCIS has any specific PO Box for AC21 services. In my knowledge, there is none. I had sent my interfiling letter in early Oct 07 and there is no information from USCIS on this. Today, I went to meet an IO thru Infopass, the first layer of service lady was so rude that she did not even allow me to meet the actual IO. She said that this kind of information does not come on computer so IO would not be helpful. She was not at all listening to me. My point is can one make sure that his/her AC21 letter has been accepted and acted upon. If not, is there any need to send the AC21 letter?

AFAIK, this does not work for people who are already in the US. One has to work in their native or different county to be eligible for the EB1 managerial position here. Some one might have sneaked away this way at some time. But this is definitely not happening on a large scale as EB1 is current for all countries for quite some time. If a lot of folks are getting away, EB1 cannot be current for long time.
this does happen- for people in the US already. larger companies find it convenient to simply send the employee out for exactly 365 days and then transfer them back. and Voila! you are in the front of the line!

You guys want everything if you donate . I donate knowing fully well that a few thousand dollars in donations will not make the US Congress Pass a bill giving GC to all and eliminating the backlog.
I donate so that WE IMMIGRANTS have a VOICE and a PLATFORM so that someone will listen to us at least. Whether they act or not on it depends on them. We can't force anyone to pass a bill. The powers against us are very strong and they have millions of dollars.

Interesting that I did fingerprinting only in 2007 Nov/Dec after applying for I485 during the July 2007 fiasco. I have not received any fingerprinting notice since then. Guess I made an impression with my fingers. :)

If they knew that the security check process would have been completed shortly, then why in the world would they have to approve them before July....They had all the time till end of the fiscal year (Sept 30th) to approve such cases once the security checks were complete and still not allow wastage of immigrant visas for the current fiscal year. They only approved it for one of the following two reasons:

Not every Senator has time to learn the facts they would only believe any statement or propaganda somebody is making. we should strongly object it..

I'm surprised only 70 members are interested in accurate prediction of future VB movements, and orderly processing of 485 applications instead of the current random lottery!
It would help lot of us make informed decisions if we were to know how many are in the queue and how long we have to wait.We can spend much of the wasted Tracking, VB prediction time with our families. Don't you think it's important? And that your time is too precious to be wasted over such pursuits?

Kudos to Team IV for keeping the flame alive even in such a situation. If anybody noticed, IV is probably the only organization making any noise about us EB folks right now.
Pappu and core team, awesome job, please continue with the efforts. I had a few ideas:
1. Can we highlight past distinguished immigrants who have come thru the EB channel.
2. The core team, can you please tell, is it realistic to expect congress to view EB separately from CIR?
3. A lot of us here, have American managers, who would in all probability vouch for us and highlight why they want us to get a GC. We could even quantify this in dollar amounts. Can we highlight this?
4. A flash went off in my head when I read about a march to DC, do you remember the Civil rights movement, Dr Martin Luther King Jr, can we use this great man for inspiration? After all, though our cause may not be even close to what African American suffered, there are parallels.
5. Can we take some airtime on tv/radio to highlight H1bs? Is it a good idea? Maybe tech magazines ads?
6. Compile a list of Congress man/women, Senators nationwide, their stance on EB quota removal, this will help us quantitatively identify where we stand.
7. Folks, we are in a very tough adversarial situation, let us not forget that 40 od years back, if not for Civil rights movement, we would not be here.
9. Are there any celebrities who would/could support our cause? Hollywood, u never know we may have support from the most unlikely places.
This apart, a question to the Gurus, is the DOS visa bulletin based on DOL labors filed for that month? Does DOS confer with DOL to see how many labor certs were filed for the next month to come up with the visa bulletin? If this is the case, the visa bulletin may move at a good pace this year and next, please correct if wrong.
