Conversation No. 1

After supper last night I noticed Kaylin's little pot belly was poppin' out more than usual. 

Me : Kaylin, whats going on with your tummy?  Did you eat too much, darlin'?

KK:  No.

Me:  What's in there then? *touching her pot belly*


KK:  A baby!

Me:  A Baby?!?!

KK:  Yes, its a girl.

*Me rubbing her tummy*

KK:  No!!  Sshhhhh, you'll wake the baby.

Me:  Okay sorry!

KK:  See now!  You've woken the baby up!

Me:  Sorry *gently patting her tummy*

KK:  No, don't take the baby out!

Me:  Alrighty then......

This morning she was telling me it was a boy and his name was Jordie.


Conversation No. 2


Me:  Kaylin, what sound does a cow make?
KK: Mooooooooooooooo!
Me: What noise does a pig make?
*KK snorts*
Me:  What sounds does a bird make?

Spits vs Splits

Boy did we giggle last night!!! 

My Boerewors,  Megan, Kaylin and I were all sitting on the bed last night and I asked Megan if she can do the splits. 

Megan gets up off the bed and procedures to do a pretty good effort and almost made it into a full split.

Riaan turns to Kaylin (my three year old) and says:  "Kaylin can you do the Splits?"

Kaylin smirks and nods...and spits in Riaan's general direction.

I guess she didn't know what "the splits" meant....we were howling with laughter!!!

Kaylin's such a great sport, she joined in the laughter...

Fist Fight and Conversation with Kaylin

Kaylin came home last week with a scraped nose.
I asked her teacher what happened and she said that one of the little boys in her class had grabbed her nose and scratched her in a fight over a toy.  I asked her what Kaylin did in return (I knew Kaylin wouldn't just stand there and take a beating from one of her peers).  Her teacher said that she side-swiped the little boy back and knocked him off his feet.  Thats more like the Kaylin I know.
You must understand I don't condone fighting from both my daughters with their little friends but I have taught them that if someone hurts them, they are allowed to retaliate and fight back.  (Don't shoot me for not teaching my girls to "turn the other cheek") but I'd much prefer they learn to stand up for themselves and be assertive.
In car trip on the way home from school I asked Kaylin what happened, wanting to hear her version of the story.  She said "Sheldon hurt me and gave me bleed!". I said: "and what did you do? Did you get him back?"  "Yes I smack him HARD!" *demonstrating her side-wipe move*.  I said "Good for you!".
I just giggled to myself at the image in my mind of my petite angelic-looking daughter (don't let her looks fool you) whacking a much bigger boy off his feet. 
Dynamite sure does come in tiny packages...

Conversations With Kaylin

I wasn't feeling so hot on Monday afternoon so I curled up on the couch under a blanket. Kaylin (my three year old) came up to me and felt my forehead:


Kaylin : Mummy Too Hot!


Me : *nodded my head*


Kaylin: Must I call your Daddy to come fetch you?


Me: *more nodding and smiling*


Kaylin : *gets on her imaginary telephone* (her hand to her ear) Hello? Hmmmm...Mummy's Sick! Can you come and fetch her?


Kaylin to me : Your Daddy's coming to fetch you and take you to da docta. Okay?


Me : Thank you, Kaylin.


How kewt is she?




I wish! No one seems to take care of us Mummys when we're ill. We just have to carry on regardless. Lets hope I don't have Swine Flu!!
