That's a good idea. A good way of generating funds for IV also. This way it would seem less burden for all of the members and they will be willing to come forward.

Marching on Capitol Hill mentioned in the article is NOT about increase of H1B but to request congress to fix the legal immigration system through which these H1B high skilled workers who come to USA in a temporary status become permanent. This is called green card process. Currently to become permanently employed in USA takes 6-12 years for these H1B high skilled workers. This makes their life status probationary as they have to go through various governmental procedures to maintain their status, travel abroad.
Green card process has proved that no US worker is available for the job these high skilled workers do. After proving this, it may take 6-12 years to become permanent worker because per year per country quota. About 50-60% of these workers come from India, China because these two countries possess 40% of world population. So naturally lot of talented people will come from there. Now if we make a quota saying only 14 % will come from these two countries, naturally there will be delay for the worker from these two countries. We demand these per country quota be removed from these high skilled workers’s green card process.
Per year quota of Green card is generally less than the number of high skilled worker apply for green card. Last 3-4 years this quota is not fully utilized because of slowness in process due 9/11 incident. I feel like there will be no special help from anybody including IV. I am not blaming IV for this as they have to fight for all. We (EBI) need lead the fight to do something.
But many of us not willing to do spend time/money for this cause. If a person can't do those, switch jobs, and find jobs where we can start processing in EB2, or ask current employers to apply in EB2.

My *guess* is that the revoking of previous H1b has triggered this RFE --- When my wife's previous employer canceled her H1b it took a few months before her already approved h1b petition was reopened (as per USCIS online).
The suspense must be terrible!

So, those who done their FP in July 2007 or afterwards will have their FP refreshed. So they don't need to go for FP once the previous FP expires. All those who did FP prior to July 2007 will have to go to ASC for FP .

Obama or Mccain or Joe the plumber whoever becomes the next president, the bottom line is, nothing is going to happen with regards to reforms for legal immigration atleast for teh first 1-2 years. So we are all still going to keep posting in IV forums, predicting VB dates and fighting between Eb2 and Eb3..... that is really the sad reality....... because these guys have far more important issues to deal and to steer titanic america.......

Total H1B from India is around 52k in 2008. But china is less than 10k in 2008. This was the trend for past 5 years. Soon china EB2 and EB3 will be within acceptable waiting time will be less than 4 years and India waiting time will be 9 to 10 years.
China EB3 moved from Oct 02 to Mar 03. In the Jan bulletin, China EB3 was at Jun 02!
India EB3 moved from Oct 01 to Nov 01. In the Jan bulletin, India EB3 was still at Oct 01!
China EB3 is certainly making some progress. Wonder why India EB3 is lagging so far behind and virtually crawling at a snail's pace.

We got a call from USCIS person for verifying our address. She said our finger prints have been expired and will send new notices (which will reach us in about 3 weeks)

The only way to counter this is to fax the senators and reps stating the "real" facts!
Problem is senators or congressmen who support us know the facts and those who do not support us, do not want to know the facts.
Still I think it's a good idea and definitely should be implemented along with few other alternatives too..like educating common mass.
I guess we need to come out with a white paper about "Top 10 Myths about Employment Based Immigration". Any good writer here...?
We can fax these white papers to attorney, media and even number usa too.

i can drive my minivan from zip code 32771 (orlando area). so 6 seats are vacant.

Guys we need to see the staff of 4 people. Congresswoman Zoe Logfen, Senator John Cornyn , Senator Arlen Specter and Senator Gillibrand. I have spoken to the offices of 2 of these Lawmakers, and they have always shown the understanding of this issue. as you may know recently elected NY Senator Gillibrand mentioned about 'some country people waiting for 8 years', this tells her understanding of the situation.
I have 4 people sent me emails, It would be good if we can make a group of about 20 people...It'll also help if people of these 4 states come forward...
also please suggest on conferencing facilitie..

But right now, democratic majority is very pissed off from Senator Cornyn. And anything Senator Cornyn sponsors/cosponsors will never get done in this Congress. Watch the news about Senator Cornyn carefully, and you will know what I am saying. Stay away from him, and if he says he will sponsor anything for us, request him not to, if you want to get anything done.
And BTW, the folks you are listing have already supported our provisions in the past, other than the incoming Senator Gillibrand. The important thing is to get the support of the Democratic leadership. Without leadership support, it won't anywhere.

Read my message - I am *NOT* an IV member and nor did I represent myself as one - like many people I just subscribed to public portal - if you want to limit it to IV members, you must consider doing that .
As far as talking in the meeting was considered, it was not an IV meeting and open to the public and I have all the right to say what I want to - whether it is inline with what you want to hear or not is not my problem.
Tone yourself down before you point fingers elsewhere. GC is not your birth right.

Now dont tell me that you got info about the event some where else. If every one of us try to get our own issue or a group of 15-20 people's issue solved we wont get any thing. This is common sense. What you said about making it paid site/open for certain members sounds bland to me. I am appalled that your thought process is not at all in sync with your accomplishments. If you think you can sell your group story and bring GC to the massess dream on. IV sure has lot of compelling stories that are sold already, but politics is bigger than you,me and our stories. If you are working only for people who are sought after by the stanford's and harvard's, move on.
